WHAT IS ACU- STIMULATION THERAPY?

Also called Black Box and Acu-Point Electro Stimulation.
Acu-Stim for short, is a safe and simple form of treatment.

Gentle pulses are passed through the body’s Acu-point system to stimulate the production of natural chemicals, which form part of the body’s natural defences that deal with stress, pain relief and healing.
Acu-Stim treatment is like acupuncture, but with no needles, risks or pain.

First a few points on one ear are stimulated for a few seconds each, then a small self stick on pad is placed on one or two acupuncture points on the body. Basically, you lie down and relax for half an hour and feel gentle pulses.

Fast pulses help lift your mood up, while slow pulses help calm and relax you.
One treatment is good, but a course of treatments is more beneficial.

Acu-Stim, can also reduce the severity and length of withdrawal symptoms from drugs / substances such as: Cocaine, Amphetamines, Ecstasy, (e.g. severe depression & low energy states) Heroin, Methadone, Alcohol, Nicotine, (e.g. severe manic hyperactivity states) and all other Licit & Illicit Drugs.

Acu-Stim should be thought of as a detoxification/relaxation therapy, helping reduce the symptoms of stress and withdrawal, as well as speeding up the process of toxic elimination from the biological systems.

Acu-Stim. can help with:

Stressful Emotions, Thoughts and Feelings. Including Physical aches and pains associated with drugs, alcohol, substance /chemical use and misuse as well as; emotional well being difficulties.

Programme Aims:

To raise awareness and good practice of Acu-Stimulation, as an aid to recovery from chemical dependence, substance misuse and emotional well-being dificulties.

Who is it For ?

Generic drug workers, counsellors, anyone working within the field of chemical dependency, substance misuse /addiction; All N.H.S. staff, health care workers and professionals within the mental health/emotional wellbeing professions.

On satisfactory completion of the training programme all students will be able to work competently and confidently as an accredited Acu-Stimulation therapist/practitioner within the field of substance misuse and emotional well-being.

Course Dates:
The courses are run over 4 days, e.g. Tuesday to Friday. The courses are limited to a maximum of six students per course. These courses have been running successfully since 2004 and are moderated both internally and externally by the (N.O.C.N.) National Open College Network.
